Pakistan
Hardware Merchant Association (PHMA) is a
National Trade Body. It was established in 1961 as an ad hoc
body. In a very short span of six months, it was incorporated
as a registered “B Class” Trade Body. The Association
has its registered office at Karachi and Circle offices at
Karachi and Lahore. PHMA began its journey
to achieve the objectives of protecting, promoting and safeguarding
the mercantile interests of hardware merchants in Pakistan.
By the
Grace of Allah as the association approaches 45 years of its
establishment, its members look back with lot of satisfaction.
A testimony to the achievements of PHMA is
that in 1964, in recognition of its performance, its status
was enhanced form “B” to “A” class
trade body and since then it has the honor and privilege of
having over 4000 members on its record.
The effectiveness
and growth of the association largely depends upon its members,
office bearers, executive committees, and standing committees.
While the executive committee of 20 members takes the policy
decisions, yet the standing committees share the major responsibilities.
PHMA strictly adheres to the monthly meeting
schedules. Apart from routine financial and administrative
issues, a close track of events and emerging realities is
kept. PHMA also monitors day to day issues,
analyze them and find their solution to facilitate its members.
It maintains a very good rapport with the relevant government
functionaries by meeting and coordinating with the concerned
officials to seek resolution of the problems of its members.
Since
its establishment, PHMA is affiliated with
the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry
(FPCCI) and its members have a unique distinction of serving
on the managing committees, general bodies and various standing
committees of FPCCI. The association is amongst the few trade
bodies of Pakistan that received appreciation from the Government
of Pakistan.
